Our client operates a flagship AI Research & Innovation Centre with NVIDIA DGX H100/B200 infrastructure. They are hiring a Chief Architect – HPC & Data Science to architect and optimise their supercomputing backbone, enabling Big Science research in genomics, climate modelling, and astrophysics.
Role
Principal technical authority for architecting, operating, and continuously optimising supercomputing infrastructure — while simultaneously driving commercialisation through HPC-as-a-Service, sponsored research, and data science consulting.
Responsibilities:
- Architect the full HPC stack: bare-metal GPU/CPU clusters, InfiniBand/RoCE, Lustre/IBM Storage Scale, and SLURM/Kubernetes orchestration
- Design a unified Data Science platform for self-service compute access across researchers and industry users
- Lead sovereign data architecture and compliance with India’s DPDP Act 2023
- Establish Big Science research programmes generating globally impactful publications and licensable datasets
- Monetise surplus HPC capacity; target 70% cost recovery by Year 3
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or Master’s in Computer Science, Computational Science, Electrical Engineering, or Physics
- 14+ years in HPC systems engineering or research computing; 5+ years in a principal architect or HPC director role
- Expert in SLURM/OpenPBS, CUDA/ROCm, InfiniBand/RoCE, parallel filesystems, and Python/C++ for scientific computing
- Published research in SC, ISC, or IEEE TPDS preferred; familiarity with quantum computing frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq) a plus
